Cookie Policy
This site uses very few cookies. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel, no social media widget and no chat tool. This page lists what is actually set and what you can do about it.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets a site recognize a returning browser. Some cookies are essential for a site to work. Others, including the analytics ones below, are not.
What this site uses
Only analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, so we can see which pages are read and how people arrive. IP addresses are truncated before storage, and nothing you type into a form is sent to Google.
_ga
- Set by
- Google Analytics
- Expires
- 2 years
Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted without identifying anyone
_ga_<container>
- Set by
- Google Analytics
- Expires
- 2 years
Keeps track of a single visit, so a person reading four pages is counted once
If you create an account and sign in to the IIE or SIE app, your browser also keeps a sign-in token in its own storage (not a cookie) so you stay signed in. It is essential to the app working, is only used to talk to our sign-in provider, and is removed when you sign out.
Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs of requests, which is how any web server works. Those are not cookies and are covered in our Privacy Policy.
What this site does not use
Worth stating plainly, because most sites do use these:
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No social media tracking pixels
- No embedded video or third-party chat widgets
- No web fonts loaded from a third party. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so visiting a page does not tell a font network about you
- No cookies from the free assessment tools. They run entirely in your browser, and nothing is stored unless you ask us to email you a summary
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you clear existing cookies, refuse new ones, or be warned before one is set. Blocking the analytics cookies above will not stop this site working.
Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics across all sites that use it.
Most browsers additionally send a "do not track" or global privacy signal if you turn it on. We do not use cookies for advertising, so there is nothing for such a signal to switch off here.
Changes
If we add a tool that sets more cookies, we will update this page first and, where the law requires consent, ask for it before the cookies are set. Questions can go to info@monvalen.co.ke.
